12mo (193 x 135 mm). (Some spotting, minor marginal chipping, 2pp. with double-impression of text.) Stab-sewn, uncut; folding case. Provenance: Dudley Bell Priester (1923-2017), Mississippi River collector and bibliographer (sold Bloomsbury, 20 November 2009, lot 64).

FIRST EDITION of the "first imprint of this city" (Howes), Kilbourne writes in opposition to Isaac Galland's land speculation practices: "Galland, after joining the Mormon Church, became one of their business agents. The author accuses him of selling to settlers some $200,000 worth of Iowa lands to which he could not give title" (Moffit).
