An Egyptian Faience Scarab Bead
New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, 1550-1307 B.C.
Length 1 1/8 inches (3 cm).
Provenance:
Art Market, Europe, acquired in the early 1980s; thence by descent.
Engraved on the underside of this faience scarab bead is Bes, protector of pregnant women, who is flanked by uraei serpents.
