[LATE INDIAN WARS]. GOFF, O.S. (1843-1916), photographer. Cabinet photograph of Comanche, sole survivor of the Battle of Little Bighorn. Bismarck, Dakota Territory.
6 x 4 in. cabinet photograph on cardstock mount (toning, soiling and occasional spotting to image and mount; edge and corner wear, including some loss to mount). Verso with Goff's Bismarck, Dakota Territory imprint and period ink notation, "This Horse came out of the Custer Massacre and was the only thing that came out alive, June 26, 1876" (with portion of date traced over in black ink).
