Lot Description
[LINCOLN, Abraham (1809-1865)]. Lincoln mourning cockade with ferrotype at center.
15 x 17 mm ferrotype of Abraham Lincoln housed in a 25 x 30 mm patriotic frame with eagle above and "E Pluribus Unum" riband below, which is stitched to a black tulle rosette, with red, white, and blue machine-sewn, silk ribbons attached below. Based on construction of red, white, and blue ribbons, they were likely added later, ca late 19th-20th century (ferrotype with small puncture affecting left edge of plate, light surface soiling to plate, light wear to rosette, aging and some soiling to red, white, and blue ribbons). 4 1/2 in. ln. overall.
