Lot Description
[NEW YORK]. A group of 3 items celebrating the unveiling of the Statue of Liberty, incl. Tiffany invitation, silk souvenir ribbon, and program.

Invitation to inauguration of the Statue of Liberty. Tiffany & Co., engravers. 6 x 8 3/4 in. engraved invitation (toning to edges, light corner wear, otherwise very good). The invitation states, in part, "You are invited to be present on the occasion of the inauguration by the President of the United States, of the Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World on Bedloe's Island, New York Harbor, on Thursday, October 28th, 1886." With depiction of the Statue of Liberty at left. The invitation was likely printed in 1887 and originally issued as an insert in a book containing speeches delivered by Chauncey Depew.

[With:Souvenir Unveiling Bartholdi Statue...Compliments of Hotel Brunswick. New York: Schultze & Benecum, printers. 5 x 7 in. silk ribbon (fold line, fraying to edges, otherwise very good). The Statue of Liberty is featured at center, above the statement, "Liberty Enlightening the World," with location and date below, "New York, October 28th, 1886."

[Also with:] Inauguration of the Statue of Liberty Enlightening the World. Order of Exercises on Bedlow's Island, Thursday, October 28th, 1886. 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 printed pamphlet, 4pp (folds, partial separation at folds, some chipping to edges). Manuscript date of "1936" in upper margin suggests that this could be a souvenir printing of the pamphlet, although the date of publication cannot be confirmed.

Together, 3 items.
