Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA - MINING]. A group of 3 cartes de visite of gold miners with their equipment.

Uncredited view of a miner standing against a simple studio backdrop, smoking a pipe, holding picks and an axe, and wearing what appears to be a tin cup on his belt (toning to print; staining to corners and edges of mount). -- Studio view of a miner holding a pick in his right hand. San Francisco, CA: Wm. Shew, n.d. (small chip to lower left corner of print; mount with occasional spotting/staining and corner/edge wear). -- Uncredited studio portrait of two bearded miners, one seated with a pick in hand, one standing with a shovel. Each subject holds what appear to be gold nuggets (toning, soiling, spotting, and surface residue to print and mount; significant wear to corners and edges of mount, including some areas of minor surface loss). 

Together, 3 CDVs, 2 1/4 x 3 1/2 in., or smaller, on cardstock mounts.
