Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR -- LEE, Robert E. (1807-1870)]. Full standing CDV "Blockade Portrait" of the CSA commander. [Richmond, VA]: [Vannerson], [1864].

2 1/8 x 3 7/16 in. CDV on cardstock mount (minor spotting/soiling throughout, abrading to upper right corner, residue to lower portion, mount with soiling and wear to edges and corners; verso with modern pencil identification and some discoloration). Uncredited, but originally taken by Vannerson in Richmond.

Lee stands wearing his uniform including sword belt and sash, holding his gloves in one hand and his sword in the other. This image was one of two taken after which E.V. Valentine modeled his statue of Lee.
