2 1/8 x 3 1/4 in. CDV on cardstock mount (light occasional spotting to mount, with wear and possible clipping to edges and corners). Verso with Charles D. Fredricks & Co. imprint and penciled identification.
Admiral Foote stands here in full uniform including epaulettes and tongue-in-wreath belt plate.
Andrew Hull Foote (1806-1863) was an American naval officer best known for his Civil War service and naval reforms. Foote commanded the Western Gunboat Flotilla, leading gunboats at the Battle of Fort Henry. He was promoted to Rear Admiral in 1862, and was preparing to take command of the South Atlantic Blockading Squadron when he died suddenly of a kidney disease.
