Lot Description
GARIBALDI, Giuseppe, II (1879-1950). Signed and inscribed photograph. March 1926.
4 3/8 x 6 3/8 in. photograph printed on 4 7/8 x 8 in. cardstock (light toning and soiling, wear to edges and corners). Inscribed in Italian, to a friend, "Dr. Forno," signed "Giuseppe Garibaldi," and dated March 1926.
The grandson of the more famous Italian revolutionary, Giuseppe Garibaldi (1807-1882), Garibaldi II took part in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897, the First Balkan War in 1912, and in World War I. He fought with the Greeks in the first two conflicts, and as part of the French Army in the Great War.
