CHAPLIN, Charles (1889-1977). RPPC and portrait featuring Charlie Chaplin as "The Tramp."
4 x 7 in. silver gelatin print (cracks to image surface, soiling, and wear and tearing to edges). Image features Chaplin standing, wearing baggy trousers and bowler hat characteristic of his on-screen persona, "The Tramp." -- 3 3/8 x 5 3/8 in. real photo postcard featuring a seated Chaplin dressed as "The Tramp," (postally unused, significant creasing and light soiling). Credited to Photo Card Co., Los Angeles, and captioned "7 Chas. Chaplin" in the negative. Ink inscription to verso reads "Many happy returns of the day. Charlie." The inscription does not appear to be signed by Charles Chaplin.
