Lot Description
[NATIVE AMERICANS]. A group of 34 silver gelatin photographs of Native American subjects.

34 silver gelatin photographs, some on printing-out paper, most approx. 4 1/2 x 6 1/2 in., or smaller, on trimmed cardstock mounts, each hinged along top edge to mat (prints good to very good, some with light soiling and edge wear, mounts trimmed with residue on verso). Uncredited, ca early 20th century.

An anonymous group of images documenting Native American men, women, and children, most likely taken in the western United States as indicated by the landscapes visible in the background. Some are posed before tipis and others are shown in front of log cabins. A number of intimate portraits of subjects posed in a natural setting are also included, such as a view of young Acoma women posed near a rock formation. Several subjects are captured on horseback, including a view identified as "Navahos on horseback."
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
