Lot Description
[WESTERN AMERICANA]. LARRS, Edward, attrib. 22 photographs taken during the Klondike Gold Rush.
3 3/4 x 4 3/8 in. gelatin printing-out paper photographs on cardstock mounts (toning and fading to some prints, light soiling; light edge and corner wear to mounts). Most photographs are titled in the negative. Attributed to Edward Larrs of Goldfield, NV, ca 1900. A number of images of Alaska are featured, including views of Sitka, Loring, Juneau, Bartlet Bay, Departure Bay, and the location of the Treadwell Gold Mine, as well as views of Hudson Bay Co.'s settlement near Victoria, British Columbia, and Port Townsend, Washington. Native American subjects are also documented in the photographs as well as ships such as the HMS Amphion.
