[AFRICAN AMERICANA - EARLY PHOTOGRAPHY]. Charming tintype portrait of young African American male subject and studio prop of a cat.
CDV-sized tintype featuring a young African American male holding a walking stick with one hand and resting the other on a studio pillar prop surmounted by a basket filled with flora. A cat prop is featured below at the young subject's feet. (Few notable scratches to upper portion; unsealed but attached to mat with one piece of new white tape to verso.) Housed in a CDV-sized Union case (nicking to edges, soiling). The child wears a plaid outfit including a double-breasted jacket, and long, striped socks.
