Lot Description
[NATIVE AMERICANS]. [MCKENNY, A.S., photographer]. CDV of street scene featuring Ute Indians on horseback. [Black Hawk, Colorado Territory], Ca 1870.
2 3/16 x 2 7/8 in. CDV on cardstock mount (left image edge clipped, some soiling/discoloration, wear to mount edges and corners; adhesive residue to verso). Housed in a half pressed paper case with added fob and with mismatched separate front cover (separate pieces, heavy internal and external wear). Verso bears faint pencil inscription reading, "Ute In[dians] / Colorado Territory." No photographer's imprint present, though similar CDVs from same collection feature imprints for A.S. McKenny's National Gallery of Art in Black Hawk, Colorado Territory (See Lots 352 & 353).

The featured scene consists of numerous white men dressed in coats and hats,  spotting the street and the porch of an establishment making up the background. A trio of Ute subjects travel on horseback in the middle of the street. One wears a blanket.
