[CIVIL WAR]. Quarter plate ambrotype of an armed New Hampshire Volunteer.
Standing portrait of a dour soldier with a thick, grizzled chin beard, wearing a four-button sack coat and leather equipment. He carries a Springfield rifled musket at support arms while presenting his distinctive state forage cap bearing a brass company letter "B" over infantry horn and "NHV" designating New Hampshire Volunteers. (Scattered scratches with minor loss, few other spots and imperfections, good clarity; unsealed.) Housed in a pressed paper case.
