In part: "The Congress of the Confederate States of America do enact, That there shall be appointed...an officer, who shall be known and designated as 'General in Chief,' who...shall have command of the military forces...and will be obeyed and respected accordingly." 

Printed orders matted and framed together with CDV of General Robert E. Lee, with period inked inscription below (toning, some fading to print, scattered spotting, unexamined outside frame). 13 3/4 x 13 in. overall.
