Lot Description
A Group of Nine Greek Style Vessels
After the Antique, 20th Century
comprising two geometric Corinthian vessels and seven Attic Red and Black-Figured vessels, one example depicting Achilles and Ajax playing a board game; several examples marked to the underside.
Height of tallest 18 inches.

Condition Report

Inspected under UV light and 10x loupe. Intact with minor chipping and surface abrasions, notably around the rims. Crack to underside of foot of amphora with Ajax not affecting overall stability.  Notable loss to one Corinthian style oinochoe (see images) with restored fragments surrounding. "No 503 Early corinthian oinochoe 550 BC" hand written below that example with signature. Corinthian Pyxis has more paint loss and "COPY HAND PAINTED BY KOSTAS TSEKOLLRAS PARIS VAGLIS CORINTHIAN PYXIS 600-570 B.C." written on underside. Small vessel with satyr painted on underside with "CLASSIC/450 B.C./64615/NESTOR".  Other small red-figure vessel with "CLASSIC/450 B.C./M2914/NESTOR" below. From left to right, the remaining vessels' undersides read: "EXACT COPY 495/490 B.C. HAND PAINTED IN GREECE BY C. KOULOURIA RED FIGURE BELLY AMPHORA SIGNED BY BERLIN PAINTER ANTIKENMUSEUM GERMANY 185"; "No 630 ATTIC red-figure amphora 480 BC" with signature; "COPY HAND MADE CLASSIC PERIOD 530 B.C."; "Copy/Hand made/Classic Period 510 BC/No 100"; "EXACT COPY 530 B.C. HAND PAINTED IN GREECE BY C. KOULOURIA RED FIGURE LEKYTHOS 115". Overall in fine and attractive condition. See additional images.
