"A privateer was a pirate with papers. As the name suggests, privateers were private individuals commissioned by governments to carry out quasi-military activities. They would sail in privately owned armed ships, robbing merchant vessels and pillaging settlements belonging to a rival country" (Britannica). Wilson, [ca 1807]. Regarding the capture of the Danish ship which was seized in May 1807 by the private ship of war Madonna del Erba e Minerva, under the command of Andrea Mongiardino. WIth manuscript notes about the case on the last leaf dated 21 July 1810.

Before the Most Noble and Right Honourable the Lords Commissioners of Appeals in Prize Causes. The Orion, Claus Petersen, Master...[On an Appeal from the High Court of Admiralty.] London: W. Wilson, [ca 1807]. Regarding the capture of the Danish ship which was seized on 10 October 1807 by the private ship of war Young Phoenix under the command of Peter Duval.

Regarding the capture of the Papenburg ship on 12 May 1807 by the private ship of war Snap-Dragon under the command of Peter Dunsterville. -- WITH: A copy of a counter-claim on behalf of the captor. London: Joyce Gold, [ca 1807]. Includes 1p. manuscript notes about the appeal dated 15 December 1809.
