A Pilgrim Century Turned Maple and Oak Spindle-Back Rush-Seat Armchair

appears to retain a dark, rich surface, rush seat is likely later.

It is worthy to note that this is a rare example of a piece of Pilgrim Century furniture that was documented in its current condition during the 19th Century.

Condition Report
In overall fine and stable condition. Retains a dark, rich surface with areas of surface wear and rubbing consistent with use. Old scuffs, marks and scratches visible in areas. Areas of old, scattered chip losses to the turnings. The rush seat is replaced. Age cracks visible to joints. The front lower stretcher is cracked through the underside, with area of loss. The bottom 1” of each leg has been ended out at some point since it was photographed for Lyon’s 1892 publication.
