Portrait of a Girl in Blue Dress with Book

This lot is located in Cincinnati.
This portrait likely depicts the sister of the girl shown in the preceding lot. Both portraits come from the estate of a 90-year-old decorator in Chicago. It is possible that they were executed by Sheldon Peck (American, 1797-1868) while he was living in Illinois, from 1836 on.
Condition Report
Framed: 29 3/4 x 25 1/4 inches.
In overall good and stable condition, with fine, even network of craquelure throughout. Light deposits of dust to surface. Canvas has been relined. Minor scratches and surface abrasions throughout frame. Inpainting visible under UV light examination to bodice and sleeve at sitter's left armpit. Vertical area of fluorescence also observed to right sleeve and drapery.
