A Pair of Late Regency Cary’s 11-Inch New Terrestrial and Celestial Globes

each set on a mahogany stand, the cartouche of the terrestrial globe marked Cary's New Terrestrial Globe Delineated From the best Authorities extant Exhibiting the different tracks of Captain Cook, and the New Discoveries made by him and other Circumnavigators London Made and Sold by J. and W. Cary, Strand, Sept. 2d, 1816, the celestial globe marked Cary's New Celestial Globe, on which are correctly laid down upwards of 3500 stars Selected from the most accurate observations and calculated for the year 18..0. With the extent of each constellation precisely defined by Mr. Gilpin of the Royal Society Made and Sold by J and W Cary Strand, London, Jan. 1 1816.

Condition Report
Both in overall fine and stable condition. Wear and losses to finish on horizon band and globes, consistent with age. Area of loss to finish around bottom of celestial. Several age splits with color fill around top of terrestrial. Loss to bottom of terrestrial, and a damaged section from impact off the coast of 'New Holland.' Missing compasses. Celestial globe stand with repaired break to leg.
