Miniature Mourning Portrait of Abigail Gilbert (1768-1832)
circa 1820

This lot is located in Cincinnati.

Abigail Gilbert was born to Deacon James (1727-1797) and Eunice Nichols Gilbert (1736-1813) in New Haven, Connecticut on February 12, 1768. An inscribed paper fragment set within the frame reads, Abigail Gilbert (our aunt Abby) Died at New Haven on Sep. 17, 1832 age 64 a Lovely Christian Lady M.H.
