.44 caliber. 8" round barrel. SN: 60719 (mfg. ca1862). Blued and color casehardened finish finish, brass triggerguard, one-piece oil finished walnut grip. Single action percussion revolver with three-screw frame, six-chamber smooth round rebated cylinder, hammer nose notch rear sight and German silver blade front sight. One line barrel address reads - ADDRESS COL SAML COLT NEW-YORK U.S. AMERICA -. Two line COLT'S/PATENT mark on lower left of frame, small single and double letter sub-inspection marks throughout. Cylinder with naval engagement scene, standard COLT'S PATENT NO follow by the serial number and matching serial numbers throughout with the exception of the wedge, which is numbered 0840. Reverse of grip with illegible script cartouche, obverse with the clear script JT cartouche of John Taylor. A very nice martial Colt Army from late 1862.
Very good. Bore good with moderate oxidation and some pitting and strong rifling. Metal with some strong traces of blue, stronger in protected areas and a medium smoky gray patina over the balance of the metal. Clear markings throughout in the metal with a partially visible naval engagement scene and one clear and one weak cartouche on the grip. Mechanically functional, safety pins gone, three of the percussion cones (nipples) are modern replacements. Grip with some wear, minor chipped loss at the sharp lower leading edges and scattered bumps, dings and mars.
