Lot Description
A Tiffany and Co. Silver Chafing Dish
J.C. Moore and Son, New York, 1854-1869
marked Tiffany and Co 550 Broadway English Sterling 925-1000 [marks for J.C. Moore and Sons] / 397 / 5885.
Overall, height 9 1/2 x width 12 1/4 inches.

Condition Report
The chafing dish is in overall good condition for age and use. There are a two areas of pitting to the interior of the dish, the largest measuring 1/4 inch, and a few tiny areas of pitting to the lid. There are areas of very light surface scratches and tarnish throughout.
The finial handle can be removed and the cover can sit inside the larger dish to create a smaller open serving dish. The handle is difficult to remove.
The burner marked Tiffany and Co. Quality, mark for J.C. Moore and Sons, and numbered 379 / 5885.
The cradle and lid apparently unmarked.
