Lot Description
**Colt Detective Special 2nd Issue with Colt Hammer Shroud
.38 Special. 2" barrel length. SN: 662812. Nickel plated finish overall with an aluminum hammer shroud and mounting oversize SILE detective grips with medallions and checkering. Double action hand ejector revolver with six-shot cylinder and mounting matted front blade and topstrap notch sights. The markings include the {Rampant Colt} to the sideplate and VP monogram proof on the left triggerguard. Barrel is marked DETECTIVE SPEC/.38 SPECIAL CTG. on the left side and COLT'S MFG. CO./HARTFORD, CT USA. to the right. A further {Rampant Colt} logo appears on the right side of the hammer shroud.

Condition Report
Fair to Good. Bore is Very Bright with crisp rifling throughout. Overall metal finish displays scattered light scratches. Some abrasions to the flanks of the muzzle with some further scratches. Finish discolored to the flutes. Some flecked patina behind the recoil shield and within the hammer recess. The hammer shroud has cracked through the right toe and is prevented from falling off by the grips. The grips further show flaking and mars overall with some weakening to the checkering. Action indexes correctly but the lockup is loose on two chambers and rotates out of alignment, rendering item unsafe to fire.
