A Sèvres Porcelain Dessert Service
Louis Aimé Césaire Macé, Circa 1860-70
comprising a pair of fruit stands, a pair of cake stands and twelve plates, each with gilt-decorated fuchsia borders spaced by floral cartouches around a mantled coat-of-arms with the motto FIDUS ET AUDAX.
Diameter of plates 8 5/8 inches.

Note:
Louis Aimé Césaire Macé was both a Parisian retailer and the owner of a porcelain decorating studio in Auteuil. In 1847, he invented a process of transferring lithographic decoration onto porcelain and faience. He won awards during the Expositions Universelle of 1855, 1867 and 1878, as well as the London World's Fairs of 1862 and 1889.
