[EDUCATION]. Small vessel made by Tuskegee Institute student.
Ceramic vessel with hand-painted flower, height 3 3/4 in., diameter approx. 3 1/2 in. at widest (light wear consistent with age and use). Marked on base, "Tuskegee Institute / Alabama - Hand Made / Decorated By Student."
The Tuskegee Institute Pottery program was created in 1937 by sculptor and ceramicist Isaac Scott Hathaway (1872-1967), one of the founding members of the school's Department of Ceramics.
