An Unusual Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Stem Cup
Second Half of 17th Century
明崇禎 青花龍紋净水碗
the compressed globular cup supported on a waisted stem, topped with a wide mouth and a short, upright rim, the main panel painted with a pair of dragons confronting a panel containing inscriptions raised on a lotus flower and with a lotus leaf canopy, the stem painted with rocks and crashing waves to the base below double lines and a band of shou characters.
Height 6 1/4 in., 16 cm.
