Single shot percussion muzzleloading military rifle musket with three screw clamping rounded barrel bands, 1861 pattern leaf rear sight, and combination front sight and socket bayonet lug. Lock marked U.S./SPRINGFIELD with a {Spread-Winged Eagle} forward of the hammer and dated 1863 at the tail. A {Spread-Winged Eagle} is on the flat percussion bolster. Left angled breech flat with V/P/{Eagle Head} proofs and no visible date on the top of the breech. Counterpane with no visible cartouche. Retains a correct pattern straight-shank tulip head ramrod that is full length with threads at the end and both sling swivels. A post-Civil War sling made from two Civil War era slings is included as well.
