Inscribed on the half-title: “Madame Secretary, Thank you so much for your leadership and for your friendship. We will continue the fight to make life better for the next generation. -Debbie.” Wasserman Schultz was the ​keynote speaker at the National Democratic Institute’s ​2012​ Madeleine K. Albright Awards luncheon. Albright made the introductory remarks regarding Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz’s contributions: “Throughout her career, she has been dedicated to addressing such vital concerns as the creation of jobs, the protection of children, the fight against breast cancer, and the safety, security, and prosperity of our citizens. She is a living demonstration of why women’s participation in government is vital not just to people of one gender, but to us all,” (22 March 2012).
