Norfolk Isle & the Chola Widow was first published in Putnam's Magazine in 1854, as the eighth of Melville's 10 sketches from The Encantadas. Printed by David Pascoe's Nawakum Press, and with an introduction written by Melville scholar John Bryant, this edition features masterful wood engravings by California-based Artist Olson.
