Highlights include:

1) Event program and admission card for the funeral of Thomas Hardy at Westminster Abbey on 16 January 1928.

2) Caricature portrait of Thomas Hardy with cane as printed in the 4 June 1892 issue of Vanity Fair.

3) A ceramic medallion manufactured by Poole Pottery of Dorset as a keepsake from the first Thomas Hardy Festival as held by the Hardy Society, formed in 1968 to mark the fortieth anniversary of Hardy's passing.

4) Shooting scripts for unproduced film adaptations of Hardy's works including Tess of the d'Urbervilles and The Woodlanders.

Others include press photos, real photo postcards, maps of Wessex, portrait photographs of the author, book seller catalogues, contemporary magazines with Hardy stories, and more.

One of the most popular writers of the Victorian era, Thomas Hardy over the course of a career spanning seven decades authored eighteen novels, fifty-five short stories, two plays, and dozens of poems. Upon his death on 11 January 1928 his ashes were interred at Westminster Abbey, while his heart was buried with his first wife, Emma, in accordance with his wishes.
