Engraved map with hand-coloring. Matted, framed, and double glazed, visible area 381 x 521 mm (unexamined out of frame). 6 decorative cartouches, including one showing the genealogy of the first seven Kings of Rome, and two containing portraits. Latin text on verso.

Ortelius' map of the Roman Empire centered on the Mediterranean, showing the Empire's maximum extant, that by AD 117, had spanned three continents including Asia Minor, northern Africa, and most of Europe. Van den Broecke Ort187 (1592L25).
