Lot Description

Volunteers of America / The War Ends in May! Washington, DC May 1. Washington, DC: Mayday Tribe, ca 1971. 21 x 16 in. poster (some creasing throughout, chipping and wear to edges). The 1971 May Day protests were a series of large-scale civil disobedience actions in Washington, DC, organized in protest against America's involvement in the Vietnam War. The protests, which began on 3 May and ended on 5 May resulted in the arrest of 12,000 people, the largest mass arrest in US history.

N.p., n.d. 22 1/2 x 17 1/2 in. poster featuring illustration of a "Trustee," soldier, academic, and police officer at center, with a pile of money at their feet (folds, few areas of separation near folds, uneven toning).
