Lot Description
[MILITARIA]. Civil War-era gold sash buckle.
14K gold, 18.2 grams, approx. 1 3/4 x 2 1/2 in. (light wear, faint scratches, overall good condition).
Intricately hand-engraved buckle featuring detailed scrollwork and patriotic motifs. Top with spread-winged eagle perched above "Union" riband, each side with a female figure one of which is "Lady Justice," and the bottom with a patriotic shield encircled within a heart and flanked by American flags.
Buckle is complete with attachment tines. No maker's stamp or other identifying marks present.
