[NATIVE AMERICANS]. CHOATE, John N. (1848-1902), photographer. 2 photographs, incl. boudoir card of Cheyenne student White Buffalo. [Carlisle, PA], ca 1881.

Approx. 8 x 4 3/4 in. boudoir photograph on cardstock mount (some abrasions to image covered with ink, soiling, discoloration, and significant wear to mount); framed to approx. 16 x 12 1/2 in. (not examined out of the frame). Studio portrait of Cheyenne student White Buffalo wearing a large feathered headdress and and holding a bow and arrow.

[With:] Approx. 9 1/2 x 7 1/2 in. albumen photograph on cardstock mount (significant creases with image tearing throughout, heavy toning, soiling, wear to mount); framed to approx. 17 1/2 x 15 1/2 in. (not examined out of the frame). Image title "Noted Indians," each subject's name, and Choate's imprint with copyright date "1891" all featured in the negative. Featured chiefs include Spotted Elk, Quick Bear, Spotted Horse, American Horse, Two Strikes, and others.
