2-part gold medal, approx. 32 x 48 mm. (10.9 g), top bar in the form of a scroll engraved "Champion of Indiana" surmounted by an eagle, with circular shooting target suspended below engraved "Competitors Born Not Earlier Than 1882" (surface rubbing, scratching, wear consistent with age and use). -- Cabinet card featuring a young Clarence E. Young holding a rifle with both hands and wearing what appears to be the medal featured in this lot, described above (tape to upper edge, loss to lower edge of mount). Lafayette, IN: H. C. Rising, n.d. -- Cabinet card featuring a young Clarence E. Young holding the barrel of a rifle upwards with one hand (soiling, wear to mount). Lafayette, IN: H. C. Rising, n.d. -- Mounted silver gelatin composite image featuring 9 separate portraits of Clarence E. Long performing trick shots. Print reads, "Clarence E. Long / Age 10 Yrs. / The Hooser Boy Rifle Shot. / Lafayette Ind." -- And 3 other items including a CDV of Clarence E. Young as a baby by H. C. Clarence E. Long of Lafayette, Indiana, gained considerable fame as an exhibition rifle trick-shot performer in his pre-teen years. After a promising start, Long unfortunately died young, at age 15, in 1898.
