Lot Description
[CIVIL WAR]. Sixth plate ruby ambrotype of a young man armed with a Prescott Revolver and a clenched fist.
Seated portrait of a resolute young man making a fist with one hand and gripping a crisp, rarely-pictured, long-barrel Prescott Revolver in the other, both posed up in front of his chest. He wears a fabulous patterned shirt, civilian trousers, a felt slouch cap, and a Model 1851 rectangular eagle belt plate. (Some chemical discoloration/haloing to edges and lower portion of image, occasional spotting; unsealed.) Housed in a Union case with scroll design (slightly loose hinges, some chipping).
The subject could be a southern soldier, a federal enlistee serving in the west, or a civilian.
