Lot Description
[POLITICS]. Pocket watch presented by Woodrow Wilson to Wilbur Cherry.
1 1/4 in. diam. pocket watch with open face (surface wear to case, some soiling to dial; not running). Hamilton Watch Co.: Lancaster, PA. Cuvette engraved with maker's marks and presentation: "Woodrow Wilson / President U.S.A. / To / Wilbur Cherry / Distinguished Honor / 1916-17-18." Diminutive hand-colored American flag, approx. 1 1/8 x 1 1/8 in. (corners clipped) housed in watch case.
The Wilbur Cherry for whom the watch was engraved is uncertain. It is likely that the watch was an award or gift of recognition for some kind of service or position held from 1916-1918.
We have been unable to open the watch to view the movement, which is why no image of the movement is available. Please take this into consideration.
This lot is located in Cincinnati.
Condition Report
The physical condition of lots in our auctions can vary due to
age, normal wear and tear, previous damage, and
restoration/repair. All lots are sold "AS IS," in the condition
they are in at the time of the auction, and we and the seller make

The absence of a posted condition report on the Hindman website or
in our catalogues should not be interpreted as commentary on an

the lot on their behalf, and for ensuring that they have
requested, received and understood any condition report provided
by Hindman.
