[INDIAN WARS] Photograph of sword presentation to Gen. Miles for his efforts in capturing Geronimo.
4 3/8 x 7 1/2 in. boudoir photograph on 5 1/8 x 8 1/2 in. cardstock mount with credit on mount recto and verso applied paper label to Willis P. Haynes, Tucson, Arizona Territory (toning, spotting throughout print; edge and corner wear to mount). Label also includes the following information describing the series and specific scene, "Photographic Views of the Ceremonies Attending the Presentation of a Gold Sword by the People of Arizona to Gen. Nelson A. Miles, U.S.A., In grateful recognition of the distinguished services in the subjugation and removal of the hostile Apaches under the Blood-thirsty Geronimo. Presented at Tucson, Nov. 8, 1887." The view featured here captures the "Presentation Ceremony." A scarce image.
