The barrel has been cut down and mounts a relocated German Silver front blade sight followed by the single line colt address mark reading COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD. CT. U.S.A. The barrel is numbered 5723, indicating it is a replacement. The cylinder has no serial number marks and the rear face is struck with the number 5. Assembly number on the loading gate reads 1437. The hammer has been replaced and mounts a scalloped firing pin and polished flanks. The frame has an added securing pin to facilitate the use of two piece grips. Patent markings on the frame are obliterated, as is the serial number for the rear gripstrap. The forward gripstrap and frame numbers match.
