** Springfield Model 1922M1
.22 LR. 24.5" barrel length. SN: 17171. Blued metal refinish with polished bolt set in a half length walnut semi-pistol grip stock with finger grooves and secured by one barrel band. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by a detachable single stack magazine and utilizing the long action of the early 1922 rifles with a flush fitting magazine. The rifle shows the manufacturer marking US./SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/M1922M1./CAL. .22. The receiver is drilled and taped with thread protector screws installed over the forward receiver, and on the barrel. Serial number is etched onto the underside of the bolt, and matches the receiver. The rear sight consists of a LYMAN marked rear aperture paired with a pinned front blade sight. The rifle mounts a 1905 pattern leather sling. A boxed E.L.J./R.I.A. inspector cartouche appears on the left stock, and the barrel manufacturer and date mark is struck SA/{Ordnance Bomb}/11-28.
