Lot Description
** Japanese School Gun Built on Type 30 Arisaka Rifle Action and Type 99 Last Ditch Rifle
World War II

1.) 6.5x50mmSR. 31" barrel length. SN: 7381. Blued metal finish wit spliced semi-pistol grip stock and half length upper handguard. Bolt-action repeating rifle fed by an internal box magazine. Rifle mounts a ladder rear notch and inverted V front blade sight. The receiver shows school kanji markings on top, and the stacked cannonballs of {Koshikawa Arsenal} on the left receiver followed by inspection stamps. No Imperial Japanese {Chrysanthemum} mark is present. The toe of the stock and the barrel band both mount sling loops, and the rifle comes with a brass tipped cleaning rod. The serial numbers of the receiver and bayonet lug match, but the bolt does not. The bore is not rifled, and the firearm is intended only to fire training blanks. Right butt has been marked with rack number 79.

WARNING: Japanese School Guns are never to be fired under any circumstances. They were designed to fire blank rounds only.

2.) 7.7x58mm. 25.9" barrel length. SN: 20969. Blued metal finish with wood stock featuring a spliced toe and half length upper handguard. Bolt-action internal magazine fed repeating rifle of simplified construction. The sights consist of a fixed rear aperture and front barleycorn sight. The butt is flat, and the item lacks a buttplate but shows the nail holes left by the original mounting. Rifle mounts sling loops on the left butt and the lower band, and features a bayonet lug. The stock is not drilled out for a cleaning rod, as is typical of last ditch rifles. The bolt does not match the receiver, though it is also the simplified last ditch pattern. Left receiver shows the {Toyo Kogyo} manufacturer marking and the thirty-fifth series marking, the last series produced prior to Japan's capitulation. Comes without dustcover, and has a ground off Chrysanthemum marking.
