Lot Description
** U.S. Springfield Model 1903 NRA Sporter

.30-06. 24" barrel length. SN: 1294589 (Mfg. ca.1928). Military blued finish with bolt finished in the white. Walnut stock is an M1922 type stock with double bolts, plain semi pistol grip, and forearm without grasping grooves. Bolt action rifle with Lyman No.48 adjustable rear peep sight and Lyman hooded ghost ring front sight. Item features an internal box magazine, Hatcher hole, single barrel band to forearm, double sling swivels, and a checkered metal buttplate. Markings include a star gauge mark to crown of muzzle, and S A/{flaming bomb}/5-28 to top of barrel behind rear sight. Receiver is marked US/SPRINGFIELD/ARMORY/MODEL 1903/1294589. Included with item is an unmarked brown leather M1907-style sling.

Condition Report

Good to very good. Bore is bright, with some frostiness toward muzzle. Finish has a few sprinkled pit marks scattered overall, mostly toward front of barrel. Finish also has some light losses around front sight band and to mid-barrel area. Rear sight has some active oxidation to base. Wood stock is in great condition, possibly refurbished at some point, with a very small chip loss to toe and a well done repair made to left side of receiver ring.
