.58" Caliber. 48.5" rifled barrel length. SN: NSN. Brown metal finish with gold damascened embellishments at the muzzle and breech, and full length wood stock with pewter furnishings and bone inserts. Single shot muzzle loading matchlock rifle with flip up rear aperture sight and sling rings on the left side. The touch hole mounts a swinging cover with geometric pattern engraved into it. Further Geometric scroll adorns all the metal components including the copper bands supporting the rear portion of the stock, and the five barrel bands. The wrist has been decorated with lightly engraved silver plates styled after assortments of cannons, drums, spears, axes, and horns. Carved bone panels have been tacked onto the butt and feature further light geometric scrollwork. The varied mountings and materials used to decorate this firearm suggest it was decorated and repaired over time by multiple owners.
Good. Bore is Very Dark with oxidation and patina throughout. All iron components show a dark brown patina with some handling mars. The gold damascened design at the muzzle and breech shows some spots of flaking. All brass, copper, and silver pieces are tarnished. Portions of the bone settings on the stock have broken off along with connecting material between them. A large seam has opened up between the butt embellishments and the wrist. The action is functional. The tang protrudes from the stock with the screw likewise protruding from the tang. A crack is forming through the tang.
