Lot Description
** Remington U.S. Model 1903-A4 Sniper Rifle with M84 Scope
World War II
.30-06 Springfield. 24" barrel length. SN: 4994077. Parkerized arsenal finish. Walnut C stock has a plain semi pistol grip and forearm, with handguard and single barrel band. Bolt action sniper rifle with an M84 telescopic sight on Redfield mount and removed front sight. Item features an internal box magazine, bayonet lug forend, triple stacking swivels, and a trapdoor buttplate void of contents. Markings include U.S./REMINGTON/1903-A3 to left side of receiver, and serial number to right side of receiver. Barrel is marked RA{Flaming bomb}12-43. Stock appears to be a Keystone post-war arsenal replacement, only having an upside-down K cartouche to cutaway on left side, and a circle P proof to grip. Scope is marked TELESCOPE/M84/SERIAL NO. 38185.
Manufactured during WWII, this item falls in the second block serial number range of rifles made before receiver markings were changed to "03-A4" (4992001-4997045). The M84 scope was most likely added during a post-war arsenal refurbish for use in the Korean and Vietnam wars.
