Chippendale carved mahogany secretary bookcase Philadelphia, PA, circa 1780
Accompanied by a brass plaque once installed to interior inscribed "This Desk once the property of Johannes Cornelis Cuyler of Albany (born Dec. 5th 1766, died Oct. 25th 1828), was saved during the fire which destroyed Woodlands, the house of his son, Colonel William Tremper Cuyler, at Cuylersville, N.Y., Feb. 22nd, 1857. On his death at Cuylersville, Dec. 21st, 1864, it passed to his only son, George Maley Cuyler, and on his death, March 11, 1910, to his nephew Marcus J. Reynolds of Albany".
