Camp Fairview, New Mexico, Boudoir Card with Notation Referencing Search for Geronimo
Rare boudoir card featuring an overhead view of Camp Fairview, including numerous tents, covered wagons, and men on horseback, with J.C. Burge, Kingston, New Mexico backmark and period ink inscription reading, “From Chas Bohmiller / to Adolph Kindle August 16th 1887 / Camp Fairview NM / Indian Campaign 1885 & 1886 / after hostile Apaches Geronimo Chief.”
A similar photograph taken by Burge ca 1885 shows a group of US Army soldiers departing the Percha Creek bottom at Camp Hillsboro/Camp Boyd on the search for Geronimo and his partner, Naiche.
