Lot Description
A Japanese Shodana Black and Gold Lacquer Displaying Cabinet
Edo Period, 18th Century
of rectangular form raised on guri-shaped legs, comprised of four shelves, two storage drawers each with a pair of pull-out doors, decorated overall with gold mons and foliate scrolls against a black ground, having gilt metal mounts with further foliate decoration.
Height 28 1/4 x width 38 1/4 x height 15 1/4 in., 71.8 x 96.5 x 38.74 cm.

Condition Report
The cabinet is in good overall stable condition. There are signs of restoration along the top of the cabinet on one side where the end rises, what appears to be a former break along the vertical line that would be a weak spot if lifted improperly. One of the locks on the lowest door panel does not connect.
