R. Johnson Model 1836 Converted to Percussion
.58 Caliber. 8.5" barrel length. SN: NSN. Polished finish to all iron and steel parts with cut down brass frizzen set in a walnut stock with iron pommel cap and two-pies triggerguard. Single shot percussion pistol with iron swivel ramrod below barrel and mounting brass blade front and iron notch rear sights. Lockplate is signed US./R.JOHNSON/MIDDN CONN/1844. Top of the barrel is struck US./JH/P with an additional H initial on the left barrel flat. H stamp remains visible on the tang with a partial inspector initial on the barrel band. Stock has been sanded with the counterpane showing two faint and illegible cartouches and the top of the wrist marked 80.
